March round: working meetings at OTC Asia

“Russtroyconsulting” took part in the work of OTC Asia 2018 – one of the key forums of the oil and gas industry. At the invitation of the leadership of Petronas, the organizer of the event, we also visited the headquarters of the company with a working visit.

March 20 till 23, at Offshore Technology Conference Asia 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the most important event dedicated to offshore oil and gas production. The conference is held every two years under the patronage of the Malaysian state corporation Petronas and gathers representatives of all leading world and regional companies of the industry – it discusses current projects, considers the latest technological and engineering solutions, and contracts from the development of deposits to the supply of equipment. Within the framework of the conference, specialists of “Russtroyconsulting” held a number of business meetings.

Thus, representatives of ConocoPhilips expressed interest in Russian companies as potential partners for the joint development of shelf projects in the region; the company is the largest operator in its field – in particular, it implements many projects for liquefying and transporting natural gas.

We successfully negotiated the terms for inclusion of Russian companies in PTT Public Company (Thailand) business initiatives in Vietnam and Myanmar; We also managed to discuss the prospects of cooperation in the field of engineering with McDermott International and Keppel Corporation, the main subcontractors of the region’s offshore projects.

At the end of the conference, the head of the investment consulting department of RusstroyConsulting, Dmitry Evtin held a series of meetings with the leadership of the Petronas concern at the company’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. During one of the meetings, mr. Mohd Anuar Taib, Vice President and Head of Petronas Upstream, suggested considering the possibility of cooperation in the promotion of Petronas FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas) – in fact, a floating LNG plant; the implementation of this project will fundamentally change the established logistical schemes in the region and will fully reveal the potential of gas fields located in remote areas of Malaysia.

At the meeting with mr. Md Arif Mahmood – vice-president and head of another main line of business of the company, Petronas Downstream – were discussed the program of attracting foreign companies to participate in key projects of the company; in particular, it was a question of the currently implemented Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC) project, one of the world’s largest hydrocarbon processing complexes.

During the working trip, representatives of Russtroyconsulting had also visited the headquarters of ExxonMobil Corporation in Singapore, where they have met with mr. Wayne J. Murgdge, president of ExxonMobil Exploration and Upstream. The Singapore division manages all Asian offshore projects, which together account for about 60% of the company’s assets; There are the largest facilities of the corporation, with a total volume of processing of hydrocarbons of 592,000 bpd (barrels per day) and an estimated value of more than $ 20 billion in this sphere. During the meeting, Mr. Wayne suggested creating an ExxonMobil project base adapted to Russian companies in the Asian region, so that foreign contractors can participate in them on a competitive and / or tender basis.
